Christine holds a full time appointment at Marquette University as the Associate Director for the Graduate Program in Dispute Resolution and Associate Adjunct Professor teaching mediation, advanced mediation, arbitration, family mediation, and dispute resolution and health care. Christine has more than 20 years of experience litigating family and civil cases. She was the principle shareholder and founder of Harris & Nelson,LLC. In 2006, Christine successfully transitioned her career to a private mediation and arbitration practice.
Christine currently serves as the chair of The Dispute Resolution Section of the Wisconsin State Bar. From 2004 to 2007 she served in the Archdiocese of Milwaukee Clergy Sexual Abuse Mediation System as intake coordinator. That independent dispute resolution system resulted in over 160 resolutions of claims by victims of clergy sexual abuse against the Archdiocese of Milwaukee. The System received national commendation from the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops for its effectiveness.
In 2007-2008, Christine collaborated with the City of Milwaukee Fire Department through a Federal Mediation and Conciliation Services (FMCS) Grant to train 950 members of the department in cultural competency and conflict. In October 2010, Christine co-presented a full day seminar on conflict prevention and management to 125 international project managers sponsored by The Project Management Institute (PMI). PMI is the world’s leading non-profit membership association for project managers in technology, oil exploration, and multinational construction with more than 500,000 members in 185 countries. In addition, for the past seven years Christine has presented at a seminar for African leaders sponsored by USAID on Public Policy Disputes. She frequently speaks nationally on issues relating to negotiation, mediation, and mentor training.
Christine earned her Juris Doctor from Valparaiso School of Law and has a Master of Laws in Dispute Resolution from the University of Missouri-Columbia. She is the only attorney in the state of Wisconsin holding an LL.M. in Dispute Resolution.
